Our Work Placements

Our great connections with businesses in and around Ilminster mean that we can offer a growing number of work placements. These work placements give the people that we support a rewarding experience, carrying out real tasks in a real place of work.

Each work placement opportunity is chosen with care to make sure that it’s safe, provides a genuine example of work and is suitable for our adults with learning disabilities and autism. We take the same outcomes-based approach that we use in our day service and create a learning experience through our work placements.

We source placements that suit a range of abilities, interests and skills - from working in a library to being a groundsman for a day. Our work placements can run from one hour to all day and are carefully selected and matched with needs and availability.

All Sweet Surprise work placement trainees are supported by our team, many of which have additional skills as work coaches. Some of our people with learning disabilities and autism may need more hands on and close supervision, and others may have a greater level of freedom during their placement.

We currently have around 50 work placements taking place each week and are always seeking new and interesting opportunities for the people we support.
