Sweet Surprise operates a Cafe and Sweet Shop that function as practical training environments. Our learners engage in all activities associated with retail and food-related activities, including Food Hygiene, money handling, credit card payments, weighing and serving sweets, taking orders from customers, and more. Maths tuition underpins this work and allows the students the chance to use newly acquired skills.

Our educational curriculum includes accredited courses from the AQA Unit Award Scheme. These certifications are tailored to the specific learning requirements of each person. Subjects range from basic horticulture and ICT to independent living skills and personal finance.

By earning AQA Unit Awards, learners obtain formal qualifications that document their abilities, which are useful for future placements and employment opportunities. Each person is supported to meet the necessary criteria for their certifications through practical teaching and regular assessment.

The practical applications available at Sweet Surprise are not available in colleges, so this is a unique learning opportunity.
